As you know, SAME Cafe has been searching for someone to take over Libby’s responsibilities so that she and Brad can have time to dream big about SAME Cafe. Well, we are very happy to announce that we have found that person! Brad Allen Reubendale (I know – another Brad! This won’t be confusing!)has many years of experience working to deliver quality programs to under-resourced people. He most recently worked with Urban Peak, a nonprofit which addresses youth homelessness in the Denver metro area. His background includes running a Court Appointed Special Advocates program to advocate for children in foster care, testifying at the Colorado Capitol on behalf of foster children and LGBTQ youth, and being a pastor & volunteer manager. He believes in the value of thoughtful conversation and works to create spaces for kindness and dialogue. Brad runs a discussion group called Let’s Drink and Talk where atheists, agnostics, Christians, and LGBTQ people gather over local Colorado beer to discuss life, existence, sociology, philosophy, and religion. Brad has a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the School of Public Affairs at CU Denver, a Master of Divinity from Denver Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Missouri State, but he says the most important education he ever receives is when he shuts up and listens to other people’s experiences. Brad lives in Denver with his husband, Kyle, where they are celebrating their one month wedding anniversary. We are so lucky to have found him and are excited to welcome him on board.
Thanks for your patience through this process! Brad will start in late July. Stop in and say hello!
