This has been one busy week! We have lots of fun things to report. Hopefully, all of you saw the blog about Brighton and the wonderful
philanthropic efforts of this great company. We had a board meeting on Sunday where the board approved the new hours. We will be doing dinner by reservation only from now on. If you or your friends would like to have a dinner party or celebrate a special event, let
us know. We can arrange that for you! And starting Sept. 14th we will be open for lunch on Mondays!

On Thursday of this week, Libby was on Colorado & Company again. This local program is helping SAME with a campaign called “Stuff the Apron.” You can watch the segment here to learn more about it.
Then on Friday, Libby went to speak at the Daniels Fund *Scholars Heading into the Future Together *program. During the week the Daniels Fund hosted 250 new Daniels Fund Scholars who had the opportunity to get to know one another through team-building, leadership, and college-life sessions. They participated in the Community Impact Activity where the students assembled
hygiene packets for distribution. Shortly after their work on assembling the packets, Libby gave a presentation on the mission of SAME and how we operate. It was great to make a connection with this group of young people.
After her presentation, Libby stopped by a lemonade stand where some young friends of the cafe were raising funds for SAME.
How cute is this????? What a special bunch!
When she returned from her visit to the lemonade stand she found the cafe full of people. There was a group here from Oregon State University who were traveling the country learning about hunger. You can read about them and their travels at hungerinthehomeland.blogspot.com
Kim Estes from *Evolve: Apparel to thrive *dropped off some great donations today. We have new hats and aprons! They are made from organic cotton and look beautiful! We are so lucky to have such wonderful supporters.
There are some friends of the cafe , Kate and Steve Buckius, who put on cooking classes in their home. They charge a small fee to learn about some unique cooking techniques from a talented French chef and all proceeds from the event go to SAME. In this next set of classes, on Aug. 8th or 15th, students will learn how to prepare delicious scallion crepes, leek and spinach tarts, pate’ and other fabulous spreads. The $25 fee for this class includes a light lunch, recipes, and of course samples of all foods prepared. Class sizes are limited to 8. Call now to book your reservation. 303-756-1035
