On Friday evening I was working at the café space when I heard a knock on the front door. When I finally managed to locate my keys among the rubble and get the door open, I found Denise Cerreta from the One World Café in Salt Lake City standing there! I knew Denise was coming to help us out since she and I have talked several times over the past couple of months, but it didn’t really seem a reality until that very moment. Not only had she dropped everything and come to spend a month in Denver helping us prepare to open, but she brought a Brian, one of her board members, along as well!
Needless to say, I was thrilled to see them, and to hear that they managed to find a place to rent just a few doors down from the café as well. How perfect! Technically, Brian is only here for a week, but Denise says she has several other people lined up to come throughout the month. She is such an amazing help to us!
So this weekend we were able to take advantage of the renewed energy brought on by their visit and managed to get 3 huge projects out of the way. We now have all the cast iron table bases sanded and refinished, the washable panels have been installed on the kitchen walls, and the new tile (at least the 95% that is installed) is totally grouted. WHEW! After completing those 3 projects we were exhausted, but ecstatic. Thank God that we had their help as well as Angie & Brian, otherwise that would have taken 2 of us a week to finish.
We didn’t have a camera with us over the weekend, but I’ll stop by tomorrow and get some pictures to post. It’s starting to look like a cafe in there!
